Members from REME RHQ, 8 Trg Bn, 1 CS Bn, 127 Div Sp Coy, 101 FS Bn REME and 21 Engineers LAD, turned out to pay their respects and represent the Corps at the Funeral of a Founder Members of the Corps, Mr Jack Riley, who sadly passed away over Xmas just twelve days before his 100th Birthday.
In 2022 Jack was awarded the Légion d’Honneur, which was created by Napoleon in 1802 and is France’s highest distinction and honours for exceptional acts of bravery and devotion by all those who have served France, whether they are French by birth or ‘by spilled blood’.
As a Craftsman he was trained as a Recovery Mechanic, which he did through France then on into Belgium and Holland and, once he managed to cross the Rhine, he was billeted in Lubeck, Germany.
Thoughts are with Jack’s family and friends.
Arte et Marte Jack.
