About our branch
Branch records suggest that Ashford Branch has been in existence since 1945, although detailed records are only held from 1961. In those days, monthly meetings were held in the staff canteen of the local REME unit (14/44 Command/District Workshop). In 1993 the Branch meetings were moved to the Sgts’ Mess of the local TA centre, 133 Kent Workshop Company REME (V) and have been held there ever since. We are fortunate that, in addition to the monthly meetings, we have been able to hold dinner/dances in the main hall. Our monthly meetings are held on Friday evenings and the dates of these are published in the bi-monthly newsletter. Attendance varies but is generally between 20-30 members. The Branch has been able to maintain its annual subs of £5 for the past 4 years. A core group of Branch members regularly attend the Annual Reunion and the Remembrance Services held at Lenham. Committee meetings are held every 2-3 months to discuss Branch matters.
