Colonel Kevin Hearty QVRM VR

Colonel REME Reserves

Colonel Hearty enlisted as a volunteer in the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) in 1979, and upon commissioning in 1995 he successfully completed a number of Junior Officer RD appointments. On promotion to Major he commanded a Royal Logistics Corps Regimental REME Workshop, followed by employment in a Staff Officer
Grade 2 within a Multi-National Engineer Brigade, and then he commanded a Workshop Company within a Reserve REME Battalion. On promotion to Lieutenant Colonel he
completed a tour as the Commanding Officer of an Aldershot based training unit. Following Command, Colonel Hearty had a tour at E2 as a Regional Brigade Staff Officer, which was followed by a further Staff Officer appointment in the Headquarters Regional Command working on Equipment Support and the Army Reserves Rebasing. On promotion to Colonel in January 2016, Colonel Hearty was appointed Deputy Commander in a Logistic Brigade.

Colonel Hearty was awarded the Queens Volunteer Reserves Medal in the Queens 2005 New Years Honours List; receiving his award from Her Majesty the Queen in March 2005.

Colonel Hearty’s civilian career started in junior and then senior Engineering and Engineering fleet management roles covering operational delivery and the setting engineering policy. Latterly, Colonel Hearty worked in senior appointments in corporate business management (both UK and internationally) and in corporate strategy. His last civilian role was as Head of Business Management within the BT Plc international property division. Now retired from his
civilian role in the longer term he intends to set up his own business.

Colonel Hearty has a 32 year old Son, who since graduating from University, is now working in New Zealand and a 31 year old Daughter who also graduated from university and now teaches in a primary school.

Colonel Hearty’s main recreational interests are walking, golf and DIY.
