It is with great sadness that the Corps of REME learned of the sad passing of the Olympic great and former REME serviceman Jeremy (Jim) Robert Fox OBEÂ OLY
who died on 28 April 2023 aged 81.
Â
Jim was British Modern Pentathlon champion 10 times, competed at 4 Olympic Games from 1964 to 1976, and won Gold at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal Canada. A legend of the Corps, Jim promoted through the ranks and subsequently commissioned before retiring as a Captain. We were honoured that he visited the home of the Corps in Lyneham in 2016, shortly after we had moved to this new site, to open the Jim Fox Gymnasium which remains at the heart of the barracks today. He will be sadly missed.
Â
The thoughts and condolences of the Master General and the whole of the Corps are with his family at this sad time.
